Right true it is, and said full yore ago:
Take heed of him, that by the back thee claweth.
For, none is worse, than is a friendly foe.
Though he seem good, all thing that thee delighteth,
Yet know it well, that in thy bosom creepeth.
For, many a man such fire oft times he kindleth:
That with the blaze his beard himself he singeth.

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great,
And would suffice.
